This enables them to play a pivotal role in designing, executing, and analyzing the performance of different Software Systems by simulating user interactions under various conditions, generating different Loads on the Systems under Test (SuT), and conducting performance analysis. The role is multifaceted, with responsibilities ranging from planning, designing, and executing performance tests to analyzing test results and conducting various performance optimization measures with the goal of improving the application performance and ultimately the user experience.  Specializing in performance testing methodologies, tools and techniques, performance testers have a very broad background, with expertise in parameterization and correlation while having a high understanding of the Business Processes that need to be tested in the Software System.

Testers in this role conduct performance tests to assess the performance, scalability, and stability of Software Applications. Their specific responsibilities include:

Test Planning

  • Define testing strategy based on requirements and project goals.
  • Identify key performance metrics for both users and software systems.

Test Design

  • Design performance test cases based on documented business transactions.
  • Identify and implement test data both within the user paths and in the SuT.
  • Design the performance scenario to reflect real-world production usage of the application.

Test Execution

  • Execute performance tests using NeoLoad and other specialized software tools, such as monitoring software.

Results Analysis

  • Evaluate the results of the performance test, assessing the data against both business and technology criteria.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and report findings to key stakeholders. 

The objectives of this learning path include:

  • Design and validate performance tests in NeoLoad.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and suggest performance improvements by analyzing performance test results and generating reports.
  • List and elaborate on the various predefined user interactions (logical actions) that can be used with NeoLoad for faster and more effective script design, including RealBrowser.
  • Design and execute realistic and accurate load tests by modeling expected production usage of the application in a performance scenario.
  • Explore how NeoLoad’s out-of-the-box-integrations contribute to faster time-to-market and improved software quality.
  • Demonstrate how to navigate the NeoLoad Web interface.
